Purpose: Mohini Pheromone Lure for trapping of adult male moths of Helicoverpa armigera (commonly known as fruit borer or cotton bollworm).

Target Crops: The most important crop hosts are tomato, cotton, pigeon pea, chickpea, rice, sorghum, and cowpea. Other hosts include groundnut, okra, pea, field bean, soybean, tobacco, potato, maize, rose, chrysanthemum, several fruit trees, forest trees, and a range of vegetable crops.

Impact: The larvae prefer to feed on reproductive parts of hosts (flowers and fruits) but may also feed on foliage. Feeding damage results in holes bored into reproductive structures and feeding within the plant. It is a notorious pest because of its greater capacity to develop resistance to insecticides, broader host range, and persistence in cropping areas from year to year. Using pheromones can be an effective tool for decision making in managing this pest through monitoring/mass trapping of male moths.

Instruction to Use: It is recommended to be used with Funnel Trap or Delta Trap with sticky liner. The Trap should be affixed to a long stick and placed 1-2 ft above the crop canopy level. Thus, the height should be adjusted as per the stage of crop growth.

Time of Use: For monitoring 5-6 Lure per Acre. For mass trapping around 12 Lures per Acre are recommended. It is advisable to place the trap and lures coinciding with the time of initial attack of pest. Lure gets activated in 2 days and is effective for 45-60 days. For effective results, replace the Lure after 45 days.
